Kiser goes onto the national ballot, meaning she has the opportunity to become Bard's first two-time Academic All-America selection. She made Third Team Academic All-America last year. She and Stergios Mentesidis '11, a men's soccer player, are the only two Bard student-athletes to earn the national recognition.
A biology major with a 3.74 grade point average, Kiser has scored 1,462 career points in less than three seasons. She was the Liberty League, D3hoops.com and ECAC Rookie of the Year after her first year, and All-Liberty League First Team as a sophomore. She has scored more points than anyone in the conference over the last two full seasons, and she has made more free throws than anyone else in the league has even taken. With two games left in the current conference season, she is on pace to produce the highest-scoring single season for any women's basketball player in the history of the Liberty League.
A member of Bard EMS with aspirations of becoming a surgeon, Kiser is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, co-President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and head of the Mental Health subcommittee of SAAC. When she's not working at Sottery Hall on campus, Kiser works in the Stevenson Athletic Center in various roles as she saves for graduate school.
CoSIDA has been naming Academic All-America teams since 1952. CoSIDA members can nominate players who are significant contributors on the court with grade point averages of 3.3 or higher. Voting occurs within numerous geographic districts, with CoSIDA members doing the voting. First Team All-District selections move onto the national ballot, where members vote for Academic All-America teams within their division. CoSIDA produces Academic All-America teams for NCAA Div. I, Div. II, Div. III, NAIA and two-year colleges and Canadian institutions.
The national ballot voting for women's basketball will happen from Feb. 22 to Mar. 1, and the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team for NCAA DIv. III will be announced on Mar. 16.
