ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Emroy Lewis has been named as the next Assistant Coach of the Bard College Women's Basketball Program as announced by Head Women's Basketball Coach Sam Spadaro.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Emroy to our program!" said Spadaro. "His varying experiences, both in basketball and in higher education, bring a perspective that I'm excited to have in our program. Our student-athletes are lucky to have him as a resource on and off the court.

"I'm excited to join Coach Spadaro and the Bard women's basketball program" said Lewis. "I'm looking forward to helping our student-athletes develop their skills and confidence while growing both on and off the court"

Lewis brings extensive basketball coaching and player-development experience to the Bard program. A former basketball player at Western Connecticut State University, he has continued his involvement in the game through coaching at the high school and club levels.

From 2014 to 2020, Lewis was a member of the coaching staff at Crosby High School in Waterbury, Conn., where he focused on shooting, individual skill development, and the academic development of student-athletes. He later served as the Head Basketball Coach at Union Park Charter Academy in Wesley Chapel, Fla., where he was responsible for the development of the program and its student-athletes.

In addition to his coaching experience, Lewis brings a strong background in student development and education. He currently serves as an Assistant Dean of Students at Bard, working with students on academic, personal, and student-life matters. He previously served in higher education admissions and advising roles at Central Connecticut State University and Florida Atlantic University.

Lewis earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, with a focus in International Education. He also holds a Sixth Year Certificate in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Bridgeport, a Master of Arts in Global Development and Peace, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Western Connecticut State University.

Lewis's coaching philosophy emphasizes skill development, academic success, accountability, and the overall development of student-athletes. His combination of basketball experience and a background in education and student development brings a student-centered approach to the Bard women's basketball program.
