ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Sam Spadaro has been named as the next Head Coach of the Bard College Women's Basketball program as announced on Wednesday by Director of Athletics and Recreation, Stefanie Carrington. Spadaro will start on June 1st.
"I'm really pleased that Coach Spadaro has signed on to lead our program forward," said Carrington. "I am extremely honored and excited to be chosen to lead the Bard Women's Basketball program. Bard represents everything I value in collegiate athletics - a commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and building a program with purpose and integrity", said Spadaro. "I want to thank Stefanie Carrington, Dumaine Williams, and the rest of the search committee for this opportunity."
Spadaro's coaching experience includes stops at Colby College and The College of Staten Island. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively in player development, recruiting, scouting, operations, and strength and conditioning at both the collegiate and AAU levels.
She most recently served as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Colby, where she assisted with practice planning, scouting reports, travel coordination, and recruiting efforts on both the regional and national levels. She also led individual film and player development sessions with the team's guards, including Kate Olenik, a NESCAC all-conference player.
Before her time at Colby, Spadaro was an assistant coach for three years at The College of Staten Island, a D2 program in NY. She was responsible for scouting, recruiting, and guard development. In the team's first year of playoff eligibility (after transitioning from the D3 level), the Dolphins earned a spot in the conference playoffs and won their quarterfinal game against a higher ranked opponent before losing to the #1 seed in the semifinals. Spadaro coached an All-Conference & All-MET player, Jenalyse Alarcon, in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
Spadaro is originally from Staten Island, NY and graduated from Springfield College in 2019 earning a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science while competing as a member of the Women's Basketball program.
