CANTON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team defeated St. Lawrence University, 74-71, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
The game was tied with five seconds left, and Bard was inbounding the ball under its own basket.
Tyler Bruns found
Elliot Harris in the corner, and he drilled a three-pointer with three seconds left. St. Lawrence got a three-pointer off at the buzzer, but it rolled around and out.
It marks the first time Bard men's basketball has won on the road at St. Lawrence.
"That's a tough place to play and we showed a lot of resiliency," Bard coach
Michael Lenahan said. "Earlier in the season, we would have struggled when St. Lawrence took the lead in the second half, but we stayed together, kept fighting and earned the victory."
Harris finished with 18 points, Bruns added 13, and everyone who played for Bard scored at least three points. Seven different players hit three-pointers.
"It was a total team effort," Lenahan said. "I thought
Azriel Almodovar changed the game with his drives into the paint, and we got great minutes from
Mike Parme and
Ayomikun Akin-Bankole. Congrats to Elliot for making the game-winning shot."
Bard next hosts Clarkson on Tuesday night at 5:30.
