ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team lost to Vassar College, 53-52, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
The game was tight until about midway through the second half, and with 7:22 left, Vassar was up 12. But Bard whittled away and cut the lead to one with 45 seconds left. After a Vassar miss, Bard's three-point attempt at the buzzer missed, and the Brewers survived.
"It would have been easy to hang our heads down 10 with five minutes left, but this group keeps fighting," Bard coach
Michael Lenahan said. "We had a chance to win against a really good Vassar team."
Greg Farrow led Bard with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Tyler Bruns added 10 points, four rebounds and two blocks;
Elliot Harris finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
"Our team doesn't know yet how good it can be, but we're getting better every day," Lenahan said. "I thought
Henry Meyers gave us a spark of energy off the bench tonight. We're looking forward to competing at Skidmore on Tuesday."
Bard will held to Saratoga for a 7 p.m. tip on Tuesday.
