Bard shut out at Babson, 2-0

Kelsey O'Brien made seven saves in Bard's 2-0 loss on Saturday at Babson.

BABSON PARK, Mass. - Babson College scored twice in the first 8:26 of the game and went on to defeat Bard, 2-0, in the first-ever meeting between the schools on Saturday.

Nikki Beatham (Pittsford, NY) scored the first goal in the sixth minute, with a low shot off a redirected free kick that beat Bard keeper Kelsey O'Brien. Meghan Tyson (Scarborough, ME) made it 2-0 in the ninth minute, pouncing on a loose ball right in front of the Bard goal.

Bard's best chance to score came midway through the first half. Isabel Keddy-Hector struck a corner kick that found freshman Carla Sanchez. She had time to settle the ball and did, but her shot from 10 yards out went just wide.

The Beavers (2-0-1) had the better of the possession the rest of the way. They outshot Bard, 17-5, and Melina Kapotsis (Watertown, MA) was called on to make just two saves.

O'Brien made seven saves for Bard, 1-1-1.
