RECAP: Women’s Soccer Scores First Liberty League Goal of the Season at RIT

The Bard College women's soccer team put the ball in the back of the net against conference foe RIT on Saturday.

Brooke Egrestis scored at the 52:58 mark for Bard, taking a pass from Skoufalos in the midfield, outrunning a defender, and chipping it over the goalkeeper. The Raptors showed progress offensively against the Tigers, executing on their one shot of the game.

At the beginning of the contest, Thayden Hamilton-Howard made three saves in the first 11:40 to give Bard a boost. The Tigers did break through 13:31 into the contest, scoring back-to-back goals. Hamilton-Howard stood tough along with Raptors defenders such as Camila Sandaal, Goldie Siff, and Natalie Wing. After facing 12 first-half shots on goal, Hamilton-Howard recorded seven saves.

Due to Egrestis's goal and improved defense, the second half was even, 1-1. RIT's score came 46 seconds before Bard's, at the 52:12 mark. Once those two goals were scored, the teams were deadlocked. The Raptors had a corner at the 65:47 mark, but their opportunities were called off after a couple of offside calls.

Hamilton-Howard's seven saves and Julianna LaFond's two saves in the second half aided in Bard's effort, and Sandaal and Siff each played all 90 minutes.

Bard hosts RPI for Pride Night on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
