Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Four different players scored to lead the Bard College women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Sage College in a non-league game on Wednesday night.
It was Bard's last non-league game for a while. The Raptors will begin a stretch of five straight Liberty League games on Saturday, when they host 2012 NCAA Tournament qualifier Union College.
Bard will also play sixth-ranked William Smith, 18th-ranked RPI, and 22nd-ranked St. Lawrence in league games - and Skidmore is currently in the "Also Receiving Votes" category of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Div. III Top 25. Since joining the league in 2011, Bard has not won a Liberty League game.
On Wednesday night, the Raptors dispatched former Skyline Conference foe Sage, outshooting the Gators 27-4.
Gina Lewis opened the scoring in the seventh minute; she chipped a rebound in after Sage keeper Teagan Waddingham (Coeymans Hollow, NY) made a great save off a header from
Maddy Huggins. About five minutes later, Huggins scored off a feed from
Victoria Castiglione, and it was 2-0 at halftime.
Sylvia Kool scored impressively in the 67th minute, taking a pass from Castiglione before bursting between two Sage defenders and banging a shot off the post and behind Waddingham to make it 3-0. And freshman
Isabella Wilcher made a similar play in the 86th minute, fighting off two defenders to squeeze off a shot from close range that finished the scoring.
Kelsey O'Brien made one save in the first half for Bard;
Lily Harris played the second half but didn't face a shot on goal.
Waddingham made 13 saves for Sage, 1-5.
