The Herons (9-1, 3-0 Liberty League) were workmanlike and skilled, outshooting the Raptors, 16-4. The eventual game-winner came in the eighth minute, when freshman Kara Shue (Penfield, NY) stole the ball from a Bard defender at the goal line and fed junior Madeline Buckley with a low pass, and Buckley put it into the roof of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Bard's best chance to score followed, when
Isabel Keddy-Hector's free kick was pinned against the crossbar then saved by William Smith keeper Chelsea Dunay (Cicero, NY).
In the 34th minute, the Herons made it 2-0 when Evie Manning (Lytham, England) put home her own rebound after her header bounced off the post and came right back to her foot. And Shue finished the scoring in the 69th minute, scoring off a header in the box.
Dunay made two saves for William Smith.
Bard (4-6-1, 0-3-0 Liberty League) got three saves apiece from
Kelsey O'Brien and
