Big second half leads RPI over Bard

Bard is 0-5 in the Liberty League after Saturday's loss to RPI.
Box Score TROY, N.Y. - Senior Gianna Abballe's goal just under five minutes into the second half broke a scoreless tie and led the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Bard on Saturday afternoon.

Abballe (Old Tappan, NJ) created a turnover and ran toward goal alone, beating Bard keeper Kelsey O'Brien low to the left side in the 50th minute. About 10 minutes later, Abballe struck again, this time on a header off a long cross from Brooke Van Baush (Loganville, GA).

The final goal came from Alex Shaw (Jamison, PA) in the 88th minute, off a cross from freshman Ali Zumpetta (Mount Laurel, NJ). All three goal scorers for RPI are seniors, and it was Senior Day at RPI.

Steph Vargas (Fogelsville, PA) made two saves for RPI, 8-3-1 overall, 3-1 in the Liberty League.

O'Brien made three saves for Bard, 4-8-1, 0-5 Liberty League.

The Raptors will next play Mount St. Mary College in a makeup of a non-league game on Tuesday night at 7. You can follow that game here via Live Stats.
