Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - After coming back from one-goal deficits twice and taking control of possession in the second half, the Bard College women's soccer team hoped for a better result than the one they finished with on Wednesday night.
But Hartwick College junior Cristina Sicari's golden goal in the first minute of the second overtime beat Bard, 3-2, in a non-league game.
Box score
Hartwick (3-3) scored in the fourth minute, but Bard got tied it in the 16th minute when sophomore
Alana Shaw scored on a header off a beautiful cross from freshman
Gina Lewis.
The Hawks led again at 20:45 when Carly Pine's header found the back of the next, but once again Bard tied it, this time when Shaw's penalty kick bounced off the post and right to the foot of freshman
Sylvia Kool. She put it away, and it remained 2-2 for the rest of regulation time.
Bard slowly but surely took control as the game wore on. Hartwick outshot Bard, 9-5, in the first half, the second half shots were 4-4, and the first overtime shots favored Bard, 3-1.
But a long ball played into the box was flicked over the head of keeper
Lena James, and Sicari ran onto the ball at full speed, pounding it in just as it cleared the far post.
James made six saves. Bard next hosts NYU on Saturday at 2 p.m.
