A come-from-behind victory at No. 1 doubles by Bard's Brian Bollman and his teammate turned out to be the key. The freshmen trailed seniors Nate Ahlberg (Catskill, NY) and Mike McNicholas (Milton, NY), 8-7, but rallied to force a tiebreaker, then won the tiebreaker, 7-3, winning the set, 9-8.

That victory gave Bard two of the three doubles matches - Joel Richmond and Dashiell Flach won at No. 3 doubles - so Bard entered the six singles matches needing three victories to grab the team victory.

Bollman defeated Ahlberg, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 singles; freshman Kevin McDonald beat McNicholas, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 3 singles; and junior Erik Wallulis topped junior Bryan Pujol (East Rockaway, NY), 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5 singles.

The Raptors, 3-3, will play their first-ever Liberty League match at Skidmore College on Sunday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds are the defending league champions and the 30th ranked Div. III team in the latest poll.

The Knights, who were playing without three injured starters, open their Skyline Conference schedule with a match at Farmingdale State on Saturday.
