ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College men's tennis team won at No. 1 and No. 4 singles but dropped the other matches to the UMass Boston Beacons on Thursday afternoon, 2-5.
Nick Oh and
Thanasis Kostikas fought for four games at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles,
Peter Trimble and
Ciaran Chamberlain battled to a tiebreak, where UMass Boston won 7-1. At No. 3 doubles,
Blake Kendall and
Faisal Jones were close to matching the Beacons' level, 1-6.
Oh was able to get into a groove during No. 1 singles, winning 6-3, 7-6. At No. 2 singles, Kostikas collected three games. Kendall was in a difficult match at No. 3 singles, falling 0-6, 3-6.
At No. 4 singles, Jones won, as he hit his targets in the second and third set , finishing 4-6, 6-2, 10-7. Trimble had a hard-fought match, 5-7, 4-6 at No. 5 singles. Chamberlain played at No. 6 singles and was able to earn two games.
Bard hosts Skidmore for Senior Day on Saturday at 3 p.m.
