POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — The Bard College men's tennis team celebrated its two seniors,
Thanasis Kostikas and
Faisal Jones, during its senior day match against the Skidmore Thoroughbreds on Saturday evening at Dutchess Racquet Club, 0-4.
Nick Oh and
Peter Trimble batted at No. 1 doubles, but Skidmore swept the set 6-0. At No. 2 doubles,
Blake Kendall and
Ciaran Chamberlain were outmatched, 0-6. At No. 3 doubles, the seniors teamed up and earned a game on Jones' serve.
Oh had his moments during No. 1 singles, 1-6, 3-6, holding a 3-2 lead in the second. At No. 2 singles, Kostikas grinded in long rallies and chased down tough drop shots from his Skidmore opponent. At No. 4 singles, Jones was able to put together some impressive shots, including a running forehand passing shot down the line. Ultimately, Skidmore took those singles matches 6-0, 6-0, resulting in a 4-0 win for the Thoroughbreds after playing to clinch.
Bard hosts York on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
