CANTON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's soccer team lost its Liberty League debut on Friday, 3-0, at St. Lawrence University.
St. Lawrence dominated possession and was awarded a penalty kick early in the first half, but the shot was wide.
The Saints (5-2-1 overall, 2-0 Liberty League) broke through in the 27th minute, when senior Devon Shatkin (Brookline, MA) put home a corner kick from Katherine Polido. Shatkin assisted on a goal by freshman Mackenzie Collins (East Longmeadow, MA) in the 52nd minute, then scored her second goal of the game in the 73rd minute, again off a corner kick from Polido.
St. Lawrence outshot Bard, 17-3.
The Raptors (3-6 overall, 0-1 Liberty League) produced just two shots on goal.
Lena James made five saves before being replaced part of the way through the second half by
Simone Leitner, and Leitner made three saves.
On Saturday, Bard will continue its upstate trip with a game at Clarkson at 2 p.m.
