Women's soccer blanked by Hartwick

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Bard College women's soccer team was shut out on the road Saturday in a non-conference game at Hartwick College, 3-0.

Senior Julie Kessler (Canton, CT) opened the scoring in the 14th minute, striking off a corner kick from senior Kate Schild (Endicott, NY). It remained 1-0 at halftime, and Bard was outshooted Hartwick at the time, 5-4.

In the second half, Hartwick went ahead in the 66th minute on an unassisted goal by freshman Kristen Zimmer (Geneseo, NY), and Cristina Sicari (St. James, NY) finished the scoring with a goal in the 89th minute.

Bard sophomore Maddy Huggins led the team with five shots, but Bard could not break through. The Raptors are 3-5. Hartwick is 2-3.

Next up for Bard is a road game at St. Lawrence University of Friday. In the latest NSCAA poll, the Saints were ranked No. 2 in Div. III nationally.
