Raptors lose fall tennis finale

Senior Joel Richmond lost a close match on Tuesday night.
Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Bard College men's tennis team lost to Mount Saint Mary College, 8-1, in the finale of the fall portion of the 2011-12 season on Tuesday night.

The match was closer than the final team score would appear. The Raptors lost every singles match, but one match went three sets and two others included set tiebreakers. Even the doubles matches were close.

At No. 1 singles, A Bard freshman lost to Greg Jacob, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

At No. 2 singles, freshman Kevin McDonald won the first set against Stat Willand, but eventually lost, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.

At No. 4 singles, senior Joel Richmond fell to Nate Dimmie, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.

At No. 1 doubles, Richmond and his teammate lost to Jacob and Willand, 9-7. Bard won at No. 2 doubles, as McDonald and Erik Wallulis edged Nate Ahlberg and Mike McNicholas, 8-6.

Bard, 1-2, doesn't play again until March 10, 2012.
