ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's soccer team held on for as long as it could on Wednesday night, but a persistent side from Vassar College finally broke through in the 81st minute to earn a 1-0 non-conference victory.
Sophomore Keiko Kurita (Scotts Valley, CA) took a short cross from senior Carolyn Demougeot and struck it home in the 81st minute, culminating one of several frenzied offensive opportunities for the Brewers. Vassar, 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Liberty League, carried play throughout the game, particularly when it was pushing forward in the second half.
Bard, 3-5 overall and 2-1 in the Skyline Conference, will be joining the Liberty League next fall.
The Raptors managed one shot on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Amy Strawbridge (Indianapolis, IN) made five saves for Bard, which hosts St. Joseph's College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
