ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Freshman
Maddy Huggins (Mukilteo, WA) played a role in both goals on Saturday as the Bard College women's soccer team defeated St. Joseph's College, 2-0, in a key Skyline Conference game.
A corner kick from Huggins was headed in by freshman
Erica Newton (Berkeley, CA) in the fourth minute, and Huggins scored herself on a breakaway in the 85th minute off a great individual effort by junior
Kim Larie (Londonderry, NH) to finish the scoring.
Larie created a turnover in the defensive third, dribbled the ball around through defenders at midfield, and fed Huggins with a great ball to create the breakaway.
St. Joseph College entered the day alone in the first place in the Skyline Conference, but the Eagles are now 7-6-1 overall, 4-1 in the conference.
Bard, 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference, will next travel to Purchase College for a Skyline game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
