RECAP: Baseball Falls to Mount Saint Mary

The Bard College baseball team dropped a mid-week game to Mount Saint Mary, 6-15 on Thursday afternoon at Honey Field.

Lachlan Rudd went 4-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Charlie Beauregard was a menace on the base paths, with a career-high four stolen bases, which is tied for first for single-game stolen bases and two runs scored after reaching base twice. Jack Rivlin went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Angus Lunt-Woodward drew a walk and later scored. Jamie Fryer reached base all four times. Sergio Hormazabal had an RBI single and a walk. Cal Anna went 1-for-1 with a walk. Johnny O'Connor tripled, Avery Melton doubled, and Jack Leandri scored a run.

Jackson Sprinzen started, going 3.1 innings with two strikeouts. He induced the most ground-outs by a Raptor, with four. Aidan Kiefer followed, with 2.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits. William Oakley recorded two outs, Orlando Shin recorded one, and Ryan Lora finished the game with two outs.

Next up, Bard welcomes Williams to Honey Field on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game.

Bard 6, Mount Saint Mary 15
Mount Saint Mary opened with a two-run first inning, but Bard had two runs in response. Hormazabal walked in a run with the bases loaded, and Anna singled in Lunt-Woodward to tie the game at 2-2. 

The Raptors took the lead in the third inning when Beauregard stole home to make it 3-2. A big fourth inning from the Knights made it 7-3, but Bard continued to stay within reach as Rudd struck a 1-1 pitch from Mount Saint Mary's Ben Keil into right center field to bring home Melton on a triple. 


Bard was able to get within two runs in the sixth inning, as Rivlin hit an RBI single to bring in Rudd, making it 7-5. However, the Knights batted around in the seventh, plating eight runs to take a 15-5 lead. O'Connor tripled in Leandri in the bottom of the seventh to finalize the score at 15-6.
