ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – Bard earned a 3-2 win in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday behind a gem from
Aidan Risse, who threw a complete game with eight strikeouts, allowing just three hits and no earned runs.
Sam Dumper went 2-for-4 with an RBI triple, and
Jack Williamson and
Mike Lynch each added RBIs to provide the offense.
Bryant Elliott went 2-for-4 in the leadoff spot.
Risse, who lowered his ERA to 1.89 in the performance, pitched out of a jam in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win. He also notched his 100
th strikeout in the win.
The doubleheader had been switched from Saratoga Springs due to weather on Saturday, and Bard was the home team in the first game but technically the visitors in game two.
In the first game of the day, the Thoroughbreds jumped out to an early lead, and were ahead 12-0 after four innings. Senior
Kevin Lee came into the game in the fifth inning in relief and threw five scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
Jake Stacey hit a three-run triple in the eighth inning to claw three runs back.
Bryant Elliott also went 2-for-3 with a walk in the leadoff spot, with an on-base percentage at .469 after today's games.
The Raptors will visit Skidmore on Monday to close the three game set, and Bard will play their fourth game in three days on Tuesday when the team hosts Saint Elizabeth University at Honey Field.
