SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Bard dropped the final game of a three-game set against Skidmore on Monday afternoon on the road by a 14-5 score.
The Raptors will return to action quickly, hosting Saint Elizabeth University on Tuesday at Honey Field at 3:30pm.
Bard jumped out to an early lead on Monday with two runs in the first inning behind an RBI single from
Sam Dumper and a fielders choice from
Jake Stacey. The Raptors also scored a pair in the second inning with aggressive baserunning and another Dumper single.
Skidmore struck back with six runs in the bottom of the second inning and put the game out of reach with another five runs in the fifth.
Jared Toby went 3-for-4 with two runs and Dumper also went 3-for-4 and had a pair of RBIs.
Kane Morgan started for the Raptors and threw five strong, allowing three earned runs, striking out three.
The Raptors host Saint Elizabeth in a non-conference game on Tuesday, and then return to Liberty League action with a road tilt against Union on Friday. Bard will close the series with the Dutchmen on Saturday, hosting a doubleheader starting at noon.
