POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Vassar topped Bard 14-5 to win the first game of a three-game set on Friday afternoon, with the remaining two games of the series taking place at Bard on Sunday.
The hosts jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings before Bard pulled three runs back in the fourth and fifth innings. The Brewers scored four more in the sixth inning to put the game away, with the Raptors tacking on a pair of late runs.
Six different Raptors had hits in the game, and left fielder
Jimmy Famularo scored a pair of Bard's runs.
Murphy Foss came on in relief and allowed a single earned run in the last two and two-thirds innings.
Sunday's games at Honey Field will be Bard's first home Liberty League contests of the season, with the doubleheader starting at 12 noon.
