ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Raptors earned a split with Vassar in a doubleheader on Sunday at Honey Field, winning the first game 8-2 and dropping the second 9-7.
In the first game, Bard picked up the win in behind a strong outing from starting pitcher
Aidan Risse, who went six innings, giving up two runs and striking out six.
Bryan Reed pitched an efficient 7th inning to close out the game.
Offensively,
Jake Stacey went 3-for-4 with three RBI, and
Anthony Brigante went 1-for-3 and added another 3 RBI.
Bryant Elliott reached base in all three of his plate appearances and scored a pair of runs.
Bard started the second game strongly, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning behind a big double from
Jack Williamson that drove in a pair. Two-run singles from
Nick Hubbe and Brigante, plus
Jared Toby scoring on a wild pitch extended the Raptors' lead to 7-1 after six innings.
Vassar fought back late to earn the win, scoring one in the seventh, four in the eighth and three in the ninth to complete the comeback.
The Raptors will continue league play next weekend, traveling to Saratoga Springs on Saturday for a pair of games at Skidmore, and hosting the Thoroughbreds for a single game the next day at Honey Field at 12 noon.
