Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team defeated Russell Sage College, 9-8, in a non-league game on Friday night.
Sarah Child's fourth goal of the game with just over three minutes left proved to be the game-winner. Sage had the ball with a minute left, but the Bard defense caused a turnover in front of the Bard goal with 15 seconds left. Bard goalie
Roxanne Rouskas scooped up the ground ball and made a clearing pass to
Lily Clough, and time expired as Clough was pursued by Sage players.
"I'm really proud of the team tonight," Bard coach
Rachel Vallarelli said. "We fought hard and everyone contributed."
Child finished with four goals, one assist and a pair of caused turnovers.
Maggy Peyton added two goals and two assists.
Rachael Yoder was busy, collecting seven draw controls, four ground balls, a goal, an assist, and she caused three turnovers. Clough and
Izzi Popolizio added single goals; Rouskas made eight saves.
"We played lock down defense, and on offense we worked the ball around and everyone was selfless," Vallarelli said. "I'm proud of the team effort and grit we showed tonight."
