Raptors bang out 25 hits in season-opening doubleheader split

NEWARK, N.Y. - The Bard College baseball team opened the 2022 season with a doubleheader split at Rutgers-Newark on Sunday.

Bard banged out 12 hits in a 21-3 win in the first game, and 13 more hits in the 10-8 nightcap loss. Jordan Myers went 6-for-10 with a double and two RBI and first year Jake Stacey went 4-for-8 with a triple, four walks, two RBI and six runs scored on his first collegiate games.

"It was great to be back out there competing today," Bard coach Andy Salvatore said. "There were a lot of positives, as we have a lot of new faces."

Aidan Risse got the win in Game 1, giving up one hit over four innings.

"There are definitely things that we will work on in practice this week," Salvatore said. "And I'm looking forward to playing against next weekend in our home opener."

Bard has a pair of home doubleheaders on the schedule for the weekend. The Raptors will host Mount St. Vincent on Saturday, and Mount St. Mary on Sunday.
