ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College baseball team lost of a pair of Liberty League games to Union College, 8-4 and 10-7, in Bard's home finale on Saturday.
Spencer Checkoway went 2-for-3 with an RBI and
Jordan Myers went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in Game 1. In Game 2, Bard senior
Elliott Goldstein was the story.
Making the last start of his career, Goldstein was superb, allowing just three hits and one run through 6.1 innings. He struck out five. Myers had two more hits, while Checkoway and
Michael Kurlan each drove in a pair of runs for the Raptors.
"Elliott threw the ball very well today," Bard coach
Andy Salvatore said. "It was the really the best he's ever thrown. It was just hard luck for him and for us that it didn't work out."
Bard's 2021 season will conclude on Sunday with another doubleheader, this one on the road at Union.
"The season wraps up tomorrow," Salvatore said. "We have to go up there and try to shake up whatever's going to happen with the playoffs, and we have to show some heart."
