SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Bard College baseball team wrapped up the 2021 season at Union College on Sunday, losing both ends of a Liberty League doubleheader, 10-4 and 17-2.
The Raptors scored all four of their runs in the first game in the fifth inning.
Justin Fiume and
Michael Kurlan singled, and
Frank Rybicki was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A wild pitch scored one run, an RBI groundout by
Joe Barcia scored another, and after an error allowed an unearned run,
Jordan Myers drove in the fourth run with a double.
In Game 2,
Spencer Checkoway had two hits including a solo home run, and
Andrew Roberge added a solo shot in the eighth. It was the first of his career.
They were the final games in the careers of seniors
Elliott Goldstein,
Luke Klatke and
Frank Rybicki.
"The message after the game was to take a step back and realize how fortunate we were to be able to play this spring," Bard coach
Andy Salvatore said. "We're losing three guys to graduation, we got some great experience for the younger players this year, and we're excited about the class we're bringing in."
