ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team lost to Rochester Institute of Technology, 87-85 in overtime, in the Liberty League opener for both teams on Friday.
RIT hit a desperation three-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game and force overtime.
"Not the result we wanted, but certainly an exciting game to start Liberty League play," Bard coach
Michael Lenahan said. "We came out on fire in the first half and locked down defensively, but we were unable to sustain it in the second half. As a young team, we will continue to learn how to sustain our energy through an entire game."
Bard got a career-high 31 points from
Elliot Harris, 12 from
Cory Dennis, 11 points and 13 rebounds from
Stam Koulouris, and 10 points from
Azriel Almodovar.
"We got a great game from Elliot, Stam had a double-double and Cory was great in his first significant action of the year," Lenahan said. "Really appreciated the fans support tonight; they made it an incredible atmosphere and we're looking forward to competing with Ithaca on Saturday.
The Bard-Ithaca game begins at 4.
