ITHACA, N.Y. - The Bard College women's tennis team lost to Ithaca College, 8-1, in the first meeting between the schools. Ithaca joined the Liberty League for the 2017-18 season.

The Bombers swept the three doubles matches, though Katie Esposito and Anastasia Kachalova didn't go down without a fight, falling 8-6 to Kathryn Shaffer and Caroline Dunn.

In single play, Esposito was edged by Brianna Ruback at No. 1, 6-2, 4-6 and 10-8 in a super tiebreaker. Kachalova outlasted Dunn 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 at No. 2 to give Bard's its only team point of the afternoon. Eva Grunblatt almost picked up another one at No. 6, eventually falling in a super tiebreaker, 13-11, to Sam Brown.

The Raptors' road trip continues on Sunday at William Smith College.
