ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College women's tennis team was victorious against the Western Connecticut Wolves 5-2 on Friday afternoon.
Jesse Radzik and
Ava Rizzo continued to work well at No. 1 doubles, breezing by their opponents 6-1. At No. 2 doubles,
Lisa Kyrtoka and
Lola Greene were down 2-5 before tying it at 5-5. However, Western Connecticut picked up the final two games. At No. 3 doubles,
Laura Kurbanova and
Irene Won went ahead 4-2 and collected five games total.
At No. 1 singles, Kyrtoka fought back in the second set to win a total of six games 1-6, 5-7. Radzik brought down her opponent 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Greene won 6-0, 6-1 with well-placed groundstrokes.
At No. 4 singles, Won accomplished the feat of winning her first match at the college level, 6-3, 6-2. Rizzo dominated at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Kurbanova was the final match on court, winning her first collegiate match 7-5, 6-4.
Bard opens up conference play on Wednesday at Union at 6 p.m.
