ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's tennis team lost a close match, 6-3, to Hartwick College in the season opener for both teams on Friday evening.
The match started at Bard, but rain forced it indoors to Total Tennis in Saugerties.

Bard lost two of the three doubles matches - narrowly - 8-6 and 9-7. Then the Raptors dropped two of the singles matches in super-tiebreakers. Bard freshman
Katie Esposito, playing in her first collegiate contest, won the first set at No. 1 singles, 6-0, but ended up dropping the contest in a super-tiebreaker.
Lily Zacharias and
Eva Grunblatt picked up Bard's only two wins in singles. Grunblatt teamed with
MacKenzie Wardell to prevail at No. 3 doubles.
Up next for the Raptors is a road contest at Ramapo on Sunday.
