ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team was defeated in its home opener Tuesday night, falling to Hartwick College, 97-85.
The Hawks of Hartwick College opened the game on-fire from the field, nailing four of their first five three pointers, en route to 10-17 shooting from distance in the first half.
Hartwick was also brilliant from the foul line, as the visitors made 11 of their 12 free throws during the first 20 minutes, carrying a 53-35 advantage into halftime.
The Raptors responded in the second half by knocking down shots of their own, as the hosts slowly chipped into the deficit. Bard was able to get the lead down to 12 with two minutes to go in the second half, but that was as close as they would get.
The Raptors were led by junior
David Runcie, who scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Armando Dunn scored 12 points, before an injury cut his night short and
Alijah Rue finished with 11 points.
Kevin Townes (Lagrangeville, NY) led the Hawks with 25 points, while Corey Baker (Granby, MA) finished with 24 points in the win.
Up next for the Raptors is a home contest with Vaughn College on November 29th at 7:30 p.m. You can follow that contest right here.
