ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's tennis team defeated Mount St. Mary College on Wednesday, 6-3, to improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2012.

The Raptors got off to a good start on Wednesday by handily taking two of the three doubles matches.
Amelia Tiemann and
MacKenzie Wardell won 8-1 at No. 2, while
Lily Zacharias and
Bella Martinez won 8-3 at No. 3.
Then Bard won four of the six singles matches. Tiemann (No. 2), Martinez (No. 4) and Wardell (No. 5) each won, as did
Harriette Slagle (No. 3). Wardell had to tough one out, after losing the first set 6-1, she went on to win 1-6, 6-4 and 10-5 in a super tiebreaker.
Mount St. Mary is 1-2.
Bard next travels to Elmira for a round robin tournament on Saturday. The Raptors will play Rochester Institute of Technology in the morning, then Elmira in the afternoon.
