ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's tennis team lost to Hartwick College, 6-3, in the first meeting between the schools on Tuesday evening.

The Raptors (0-3) got a win from freshmen Lily Schwartz and Amelia Tiemann at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, but the Hawks (4-0) took the other two doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.

Tiemann defeated Rose Natoli (Endwell, NY) 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, and freshman Bella Martinez defeated Anna Van Allsburg (Prides Crossing, MA) 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Hartwick took the other four singles matches in straight sets.

Bard next plays another non-league contest on Saturday at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue, N.Y.
