Bard downed by William Smith, 16-6

Senior Brianna Bean had a goal and an assist, but Bard lost to William Smith Colllege, 16-6, on Saturday.

GENEVA, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to William Smith College, 16-6, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.

The Herons (5-7, 5-1 Liberty League) scored four goals in the first 4:01 of the game and led 9-1 at halftime. The Raptors rallied in the second half and got as close as 11-6 before William Smith put the game away.

Nine different players scored for the winners, led by freshman Allie Flaherty (South Burlington, VT), who finished with three goals.

Joanna Regan scored three times for Bard. Brianna Bean had a goal and an assist, while Stephanie LaMont and Alexandra Clarke scored single goals. Winta Mehari made three saves for Bard, 3-8 overall, 0-5 in the Liberty League.

The Raptors are off until next weekend, when they'll travel north to take on St. Lawrence University (Friday) and Clarkson (Saturday) in Liberty League contests. Follow them both right here via Live Stats.
