Raptors snap losing streak, defeat Elms, 19-8

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team emphatically snapped a four-game losing streak with 12 goals in the first half en route to a 19-8 victory over Elms College in a non-league game on Tuesday night.

The Raptors scored three times in the first 3:12 of the game, then after Elms cut the lead to 3-1, scored five straight to take control. Bard led 12-3 at halftime after dominating draw controls (14-2) and shots (18-8) in the first 30 minutes.

Six of Bard's goals in the game came on free positions shots, including four in the second half.

Senior Brianna Bean had a big night with five goals, three assists, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Stephanie LaMont had five goals and two assists, Victoria Fleisher had four goals and two assists, Joanna Regan had two goals and three assists, and single goals came from Hannah Durham, Alexandra Clarke and Lizzy Chemel.

Winta Mehari made seven saves to earn the win for the Raptors, who are 3-4.

Elms (1-6) got two goals apiece from Lauren Mazza (Agawam, MA) and Jillian Pirog (Ludlow, MA).
