Bard loses Liberty League opener to RPI

KINGSTON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost its Liberty League opener to preseason favorite Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 18-5, in the rain at Dietz Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The Engineers scored six goals in the first 6:30 of the game and never looked back, outshooting Bard 27-10 and winning 20 of 25 draw controls.

RPI (3-3, 1-0 Liberty League) got goals from 10 different players. Meg Colitz (East Greenwich, RI) and Sophie Hager (Northport, NY) led the way with three goals apiece.

Bard (2-3, 0-1 Liberty League) was led by senior Stephanie LaMont, who had four goals, and senior Brianna Bean, who had three assists. Joanna Regan scored Bard's other goal, and Winta Mehari made seven saves.
