LaMont leads Bard over Sage; Raptors are 2-0

Stephanie LaMont scored six goals on Tuesday night to extend her own Bard scoring record to 111 career goals.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Joanna Regan scored in the first minute for the second straight game, and Stephanie LaMont finished with six goals in Bard's 20-3 women's lacrosse victory over Sage on Tuesday night.

The Raptors are 2-0.

Goals by Regan, LaMont and a pair by Brianna Bean gave the Raptors a 4-0 lead after nine minutes, and the Raptors cruised to a victory. Five of LaMont's goals came in the first half, as Bard led, 14-1, at the break.

Aside from her six goals - which gives her 111 for her career - LaMont led the Raptors with seven draw controls. Simone Leitner added four goals, ,Victoria Fleisher had three, and Bean finished with two goals and two assists. Alexandra Clarke had two goals and one assist, Regan scored twice, and Lizzy Chemel scored the first goal of her college career. Hannah Durham handed out two assists.

Nadine Muniz led the Raptors with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Clara Sekowski and Winta Mehari split the goaltending duties. Sekowski made three saves, and Mehari had two.

Bard is next scheduled to host Richard Stockton College in a non-league game on Thursday night at Dietz Stadium in Kingston, but the condition of the field is in question. Keep an eye on the Bard web site for updates on the date, time and site of that contest.
