ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team was defeated by Clarkson University, 17-10, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
The Raptors have lost four in a row, all in the Liberty League, but can perhaps be buoyed by the fact that prior to Saturday, Bard hadn't scored more than seven goals in a Liberty League game since joining the conference in 2012.
Clarkson (8-2, 2-2 Liberty League) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first 15 minutes, but Bard scored three of the last five goals in the half and trailed, 8-3, at the break.
In the second half, it was 9-4 when Clarkson put the game away with three straight goals over the span of 3:07. Bard fought back against Clarkson's reserves, outscoring the Golden Knights 6-5 over the last 20 minutes of the game, but the outcome was never in doubt.
Clarkson got four goals and an assist from freshman Christine Wright (Watertown, NY), and three goals apiece from Marissa Mastronardi (Cortland, NY), Alyssa Cristaldi (North Syracuse, NY) and Nicole Kelly (Syracuse, NY).
Bard (4-6, 0-4 Liberty League) got three goals from freshman
Mary-Elizabeth Clair, two goals and an assist apiece from
