ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to St. Lawrence University, 16-5, in a Liberty League game on Friday afternoon.
The Saints (7-4 overall, 3-1 Liberty League) scored 28 seconds into the game and ran out to a 9-0 lead in the first 17 minutes, led by four goals from senior Brigid Hurley (Penfield, NY).
Bard got on the board on an unassisted goal from defender
Hallie Nolan, her fifth of the year, with 9:32 left in the half.
Joanna Regan scored less than two minutes later on an assist from
Brianna Bean to cut the deficit to 9-2.
St. Lawrence scored four goals over the final 6:11 of the half, however, and led 13-2 at the break.
Bard (4-5 overall, 0-3 Liberty League) played St. Lawrence's reserve players even in the second half. Nine different players scored for the winners, led by Hurley. Bean scored twice and
Mary-Elizabeth Clair added a single goal for Bard in the second half.
St. Lawrence outshot Bard, 29-21, and used three goalies.
