Women's lacrosse team drops final home game of 2013

Freshman Mary-Elizabeth Clair scored her 25th goal of the season on Saturday. She's one goal away from tying the freshman record at Bard with one game left to play.

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to William Smith College, 17-3, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.

The Herons, at 8-6 overall and 5-2 in the Liberty League, are in the thick of the playoff hunt with a week left in the regular season. They scored six goals over a span of 4:29 by the middle of the first half and had a 9-2 lead at halftime.

William Smith led in every statistical category, including shots (33-10), ground balls (25-14), draw controls (14-8) and turnovers (13-23). Seniors Kathleen Ragan (Topsfield, MA) led William Smith with four goals and two assists. Eleven different players scored for the winners.

Bard (6-9, 0-8) got single goals from Brianna Bean, Mary-Elizabeth Clair and Stephanie LaMont, and an assist from Joanna Regan. The Raptors have one game left on the 2013 schedule - at Vassar next Saturday.
