Bard defeats Old Westbury, 16-1

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team defeated Old Westbury, 16-1, in a non-league game on Tuesday night.

This is Old Westbury's first varsity season in women's lacrosse; Bard did the same thing three springs ago.

Bard (6-8) scored eight goals in each half and dominated play. The Raptors outshot the Panthers 37-9, but Old Westbury goalkeeper Sara Braverman (Westbury, NY) played well and made eight saves. Bard had a slight edge in ground balls (28-26) and dominated draw controls (17-2).

Bard junior Stephanie LaMont added to her school record-breaking totals with five goals and an assist. Joanna Regan had two goals and three assists, while Hallie Nolan and Mary-Elizabeth Clair each finished with two goals and one assist. Shana Joseph, Simone Leitner and Hannah Durham each scored once, while Gina Lewis and Neena Marano picked up assists.

Sophomore Caitlin Thomas (Patchogue, NY) scored on a free position shot for Old Westbury, 2-12.
