Women's lacrosse team done in by late Emmanuel surge

BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College broke open a close game by outscoring Bard 6-1 over the final 24 minutes en route to a 14-8 non-league win on Monday night.

The game was tied three times in the first half, but the Raptors (3-2) were down 8-5 at the break, and 9-5 in the first five minutes of the second half. Back-to-back goals by Mary-Elizabeth Clair and Stephanie LaMont - 61 seconds apart - brought Bard to within 9-7, but they wouldn't get closer.

Emmanuel (3-1) scored four goals over the next eight minutes and put the game away.

The winners were led by sophomore Sarah Wootten (Berlin, MD), who had three goals and one assist. The Saints held Bard to just three shots on goal in the second half.

Bard got four goals and an assist from LaMont, a goal and two assists from Brianna Bean, a goal and eight draw controls from Joanna Regan, and single goals from Clair and Victoria Fleisher. Maddy Huggins made seven saves.

Bard continues its Boston-area trip on Tuesday with a game against Regis College in Weston, Mass. Game time is 6 p.m., and you can follow it via Live Stats right here.
