Raptors top Elms, 17-2; first win for new women's lacrosse coach

Freshman Mary-Elizabeth Clair had six goals and three assists in a victory over Elms on Saturday afteroon.
Box Score KINGSTON, N.Y. - Freshman Mary-Elizabeth Clair scored six goals and added three assists to lead the Bard College women's lacrosse team to a 17-2 victory over Elms College in a non-league game on Saturday afternoon.

It was the first win in the career of new Bard coach Hannah Taylor. The Raptors are 1-1.

Bard scored twice in the first two minutes and had a 7-0 lead before Elms (1-3) broke through with a goal. It was 11-2 at halftime.

The Raptors dominated every phase. They outshot the Blazers 38-9, had a better percentage on successful clears (9-for-15) and collected 19 draw controls to two for Elms. Bard also had an edge in ground balls (34-25).

Victoria Fleisher added four goals and two assists; Brianna Bean, Joanna Regan and Stephanie LaMont each had two goals and one assist. Neena Marano added a single goal and Hannah Durham had one assist. Maddy Huggins made four saves.

Lauren Mazza (Agawam, MA) and Chelsey Grabowski (South Hadley, MA) each scored for the Blazers, who were averaging 13 goals per game before Saturday.

Up next for Bard is a non-league game at Purchase College on Tuesday night at 7.
