Women's lacrosse team loses opener at Mount Saint Mary, 19-9

Brianna Bean had a goal and an assist in Bard's opener on Wednesday night.
Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Mount Saint Mary College scored five unanswered goals in the first eight minutes and cruised to a 19-9 victory over Bard College in the women's lacrosse opener for the Raptors on Wednesday night.

It was the debut of first-year Bard coach Hannah Taylor.

Mount Saint Mary senior Kaileen Spadaro (Islip, NY) scored five of her game-high six goals in the first 17 minutes, and by that time, the Knights (4-1) had a 9-1 lead. Bard (0-1) cut the lead to 9-3 but didn't get closer the rest of the way.

Bard got three goals from sophomore Joanna Regan, two goals from freshman Mary-Elizabeth Clair, one goal and two assists from Stephanie LaMont, a goal and an assist from Brianna Bean, and single goals from Victoria Fleisher and Hallie Nolan. Maddy Huggins made five saves for Bard, which was down, 14-4, at halftime.

Mount Saint Mary outshot Bard, 36-19, and were 14-for-19 on clear attempts.
