Box Score
PURCHASE, N.Y. - Perhaps what was said at halftime is best left to those who were there. In other words, what happens in the locker room, stays in the locker room.

Whatever it was, it worked. Almost.

The Bard College women's basketball team saw an early lead evaporate and looked to be on the verge of getting blown out early in the second half. But the Raptors (0-3) put together a furious rally that trimmed a 23-point lead to five, only to end up losing to Purchase College, 70-59, in a non-league game on Wednesday night.

Bard was up 8-4 with 16:13 left in the first half, and down 19-8 two minutes and one second later. The 15-0 run was not only quick, but it lingered. The Raptors were down 21 at halftime and down by 23 (38-15) in the first minute of the second half.

But Bard surged behind 19 second-half points from Tytravia Riley. And when freshman Annie Kissel made the second of consecutive jumpers, Bard had cut the 23-point deficit to five (60-55) with 2:53 left in the game. It was a lengthy 40-22 run, and the job wasn't done yet.

Div. I transfer Jazmin Garcia (Peekskill, NY) hit a crucial three-pointer on Purchase's next possession, and after a Bard turnover, Jessica Bullock (Thiells, NY) scored on a layup to push the lead back to 10. The Raptors couldn't get closer than six the rest of the way, and lost by 11.

Riley finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Abbey Labrecque added 12 points and four rebounds, while Kissel finished with eight points.

Garcia had 20 points and Bullock added 16 for the winners.

Bard will remain on the road for its next game, at Elms College on Tuesday. You can follow that game via Live Stats right here.
