Box Score
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - It was scoreless midway through the first half. It was scoreless at halftime.

In fact, after 63 minutes of women's soccer on Tuesday night, Vassar and Bard were still scoreless, and the Raptors had a 2-1 edge in shots on goal. This was either going to be a 1-0 game or a draw, and Bard was motivated by the thought of picking up its first Liberty League win since joining in 2011. Even a draw would be a good result.

Neither happened.

Vassar scored twice in 24 seconds to take the lead, saw Bard cut it to 2-1, then scored three more times in the final 15 minutes to leave Annandale with a 5-1 victory. The Brewers improved to 8-7-2 overall, 3-3-1 in the Liberty League.

The first 63 minutes were played dead even. Nobody was getting a good look at the goal, almost every ball was 50-50 ... it was just a defensive struggle. There was nowhere anyone could go to find any room on the field.

It changed in the 64th minute. Chloe Wheeler (Thousand Oaks, CA) touched a short pass to freshman Jordyn Matthews (Newton, MA), and her one-timer bent gracefully over the outstretched hands of Bard keeper Kelsey O'Brien from about 15 yards to give Vassar a 1-0 lead. Vassar's second shot on goal of the game turned out to be a real beauty.

Then, 24 seconds later, it was 2-0. Lucy Brainerd (Littleton, CO) played a long ball down the right wing onto the foot of Kameria Coley (Washington, DC), and she outran a Bard defender and beat O'Brien to the far post from about eight yards away.

Bard (5-11-2, 0-7-1 Liber

ty) responded. Abbey Labrecque punched in a cross on a give-and-go play with Hallie Nolan to cut Vassar's lead to 2-1 in the 72nd minute. It was Bard's first goal against Vassar in seven meetings since Sept. 12, 2001.

Coley made it 3-1, though, off a corner from Brainerd in the 76th minute; Kelsey Domb (Round Rock, TX) made it 4-1 in the 84th minute, and Coley completed her hat trick off a rebound in the 85th minute.

Shots ended up 12-11 in favor of Vassar, and corners were 6-5 for Vassar, too. Stephanie Tapolsky (Louisville, KY) made two saves for the Brewers.

O'Brien made three saves for Bard. The Raptors have one game remaining, at Utica on Saturday. You can follow that one via Live Stats or Live Video right here.

NOTE: Tuesday night's game was the final home contest in the careers of Bard seniors Brianna Bean, Maddy Huggins and Neena Marano. They were honored before the game.
