Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - After going 6-3 in its non-league games, then going 0-2 on its first weekend of Liberty League games, the Bard College women's basketball team clearly felt the need to regain its confidence.
On Tuesday, two-time defending Liberty League champion Vassar visited Annandale, and Bard played its best game of the year. The Raptors fought their way to a 28-28 tie at halftime, but then Vassar's shooting picked up significantly, and the Brewers coasted to a 79-53 victory.

Bard held Vassar (8-1 overall, 1-0 Liberty League) to 36 percent shooting in the first half, and held the league's top scorer, Cydni Matsuoka (Sacramento, CA) scoreless. The teams each had 14 turnovers in the first half, and they went into the break tied.
Vassar came out fired up and shot the ball amazingly well from everywhere on the floor. Led by sophomore Colleen O'Connell (Maywood, NJ), who had 20 of her 26 points in the second half, Vassar made 61 percent of its shots in the final 20 minutes and scored 51 points. The Brewers also turned it up on the defensive end, holding Bard to 24 percent shooting and 25 second-half points.
O'Connell made 13-of-15 shots and had nine rebounds to go with her game-high 26 points. Freshman Caitlin Drakeley (Woodbury, CT) added 10 points, and although Matsuoka was held to four points, she had nine assists and eight rebounds.
Bard got a stellar game from freshman
Tytravia Riley, who had 19 points, 19 rebounds and five steals. Fellow freshman
Bianka Bell had 12 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists, and
Imani Jones added 11 points, five rebounds and a blocked shot.
Bard will play at St. Lawrence University on Friday at 6 p.m. in another Liberty League matchup.
