Bard defeated by hot-shooting Union

Sophomore Liz Freud scored 11 points in Bard's loss to Union College on Saturday.
Box Score SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - A 21-5 run over a seven-minute span in the middle of the first half broke open a tie game and spurred Union College to an 81-48 Liberty League victory over Bard on Saturday afternoon.

Winners of seven straight, Union (8-3 overall, 4-0 Liberty League) shot 58 percent from the floor in the first half. It was 7-7 about seven minutes into the game, but Union took off from there, outscoring Bard 33-14 to take a 40-21 halftime lead. Bard never got closer.

Union got 18 points from sophomore Kate Thompson (Clinton, NY) and at least two points apiece from 13 other players as the Dutchwomen emptied their bench in the second half. Union produced 27 assists and finished the game at 53 percent from the floor.

Bard (6-5, 0-2) got 17 points, eight rebounds, six steals and a block from freshman Tytravia Riley, who did it all in 29 minutes because of foul trouble. Sophomore Liz Freud added 11 points, and junior Treyonna Frazier came off the bench to collect six rebounds in just 14 minutes.
